Suse 9.1-System on a S-ATA-RAID 5

Hi folks,

I'm in trouble with my file server for over a week:

I have installed a Suse 9.1-System on a S-ATA-RAID 5 (Promise FastTrak SX 8300).
In case of problems by copeeing large files, I tried some different swap sizes. (Installing Linux for a couple of times).

After the last installation, YAST will not format respectively mount the boot-partition. After 64% formating, installation skip with errots "Cannot mount dev/sda2..." an freeze.

By now, I tried nearly everything:
- Low-Level Format & Test of all HDDs (Maxtor 250 GB)
- other RAID Level (doesn't work)
- WinXP Installation (works trouble-free)
- Installation on ONE HDD (works), RAID formating mounting (doesn't work)
- change RAM
- change PCI-Slot

I'm surprised, cause: Except the Installation, I changed nothing on the Hard & Software. Why does it work for several times and suddenly it failed?

Perhaps somebody can help!

Thanks & greeting from sunny Hamburg

Sebastian
