SuSE 9.1 on nForce2 chipset - no sound

I have recently installed SuSE 9.1 Personal on a Shuttle "shoebox" system with the nForce2 chipset.

I got the kernel source info updated (2.6.5-7.108), and the NVIDIA...sh installed fine (after a few errors, but i finally got it to go), and the onboard NIC drivers installed fine, and according to the log file for the nvidida drivers, so did the audio drivers.

However, the system does not recognize that there is an audio device on the mobo. I know it's on there, because this is a dual-boot system with Win2K Pro and it works fine there.

Any suggestions?

I use the community-supported drivers instead of nvidia's own for audio and the network device. The audio uses the snd-intel8x0 driver from the Alsa project (also in the kernel) and the network uses the forcedeth driver module. I have no problems with either, so you may want to try them out.
