Suse 8.2 won't recognise modem.

I have just installed a old Lucent pci modem, downloaded the required drivers from ltmodems for Mandrake 9.1 and SuSE 8.2.MDK 9.1 is working fine, but I can not get SuSE 8.2 to recognize the pci modem.

lspci -v: 00:09.0 Communication controller: Lucent Microelectronics F-1156IV WinModem (V90, 56KFlex) (rev 01)
Subsystem: GVC Corporation LT WinModem 56k Data+Fax+Voice+VoiceView+Dsvd
Flags: bus master, medium devsel, latency 0, IRQ 11
Memory at cefebf00 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=256]
I/O ports at d400 [size=8]
I/O ports at d000 [size=256]
Capabilities: [f8] Power Management version 2

I manually load lt_modem and lt_serial and then check the loaded modules.OK

Running wvdialconf /etc/wvdial.conf gives the output:sorry no modem was detected.
Any help would be appreciated

Lachlan.

What's the end of "dmesg" right after the modules are loaded? I don't think there's a revolutionary difference between SuSe 8.2 and Mandy, but you have to remember, the lt modem drivers are half pre-compiled binary and may well be horking errors that don't get logged.

Cheers,

Thanks finegan, you put me on the right road.
setserial /dev/ttyLT0 uart 16550a port 0xd400 irq 11,and then link /dev/ttyLT0 to /dev/modem,I never thought a modem would sound so sweet.

Cheers

Lachlan
