Firstly, a couple of questions:
1) Did you install from a .rpm or .tar.gz?
2) Which version (and name) of the driver is it?
3) Did you install as root?
Sorry if these seem like basic questions, but they will go a long way to help fix your problem.

It was in a tar.gz file
I extracted it and placed the files in /root/modem/, them I chmoded the folder to 755 and finaly I typed ./ins_all and thats when I got told to look at hfs_install.log.
Its Linux Kernal 2.2.17 driver version 1.03.01, and yes I was logged in as root.
Thanks -

OK, the kernel version could be the problem here is a section from the Linuxant web site
Quote:
The drivers should work on most current Linux distributions, with the 2.4 or 2.6 kernels. A Pentium processor with the MMX enhancements is required. Some systems may require kernel recompilation with special ACPI patches.
|
You might have to upgrade the kernel to a 2.4 version, or upgrade SuSE to 9.

In a terminal (su) try running wvdialconf /etc/wvdial.conf.This will tell you if your modem is detected and what /dev/xxxx it is on.If it is not detected it probably means that your drivers are not loaded.
If your modem is detected try setserial /dev/xxxx uart 16550 io ec00 irq 11.
If that works symlink ln -s /dev/xxxx /dev/modem.
I have a Lucent ltmodem and I have to load the drivers for it as modules.I also had a kernel missmatch but I just forced it with insmod -f and no problems as yet.
