SuSE 8.2 after YOU no X any more

hai!

SuSE 8.2
ASUS V8460 GForce4

i updated my kernel to 2.4.20-4GB-athlon

installed the sources

downloaded a new nvidia driver, typed "export IGNORE_CC_MISMATCH=yes" and installed it without any errors.

but my x won't work any more. hardware accelleration is turned off at the moment and i'm not able to change this, thus my pc hangs if i try to change this in yast2.

any guidelines how to specify the problem and help how to fix it.

maybe i just have to learn to really don't touch my running systems anymore...

tia, parker

Have you tried starting Linux in safe mode, then changing the setting with sax2? I.e. try doing:

parker@linux~#sax2
