SuSe 8.1 CD-Rom No Medium

Hey all,

I made a clean install of Suse 8.1 from my cdrom drive. After that I
browsed that cd once, but now it has decided not to work anymore.
I don't know what changed that it decided no to work anymore....

The error I get when I try to mount is: mount: No medium found.

There is a cd in the drive. This is the hwinfo:
11: IDE 02.0: 10602 CD-ROM
[Created at ide.122]
Unique ID: hY5p.WzlQpYr6gc9
Hardware Class: cdrom
Model: "ASUS CD-S400/A"
Device: "ASUS CD-S400/A"
Revision: "V2.0S"
Serial ID: ""
Driver: "ide-cdrom"
Device File: /dev/hdc
Size: 0 sectors a 512 bytes
Drive status: no medium
Config Status: cfg=no, avail=yes, need=no
Attached to: #4 (IDE interface)
Drive Speed: 40

This is what's in my fstab:
/dev/hdb4 / ext2 defaults 1 1
/dev/hdb1 swap swap pri=42 0 0
devpts /dev/pts devpts mode=0620,gid=5 0 0
proc /proc proc defaults 0 0
usbdevfs /proc/bus/usb usbdevfs noauto 0 0
/dev/hdc /media/cdrom auto ro,noauto,user,exec 0 0
/dev/fd0 /media/floppy auto noauto,user,sync 0 0

I have looked all around the web and found some pointers, but they
didn't help me... Any one have an idea???

Take care,
Dirk

Instead of lilo you may use grub.

Find this in file:/boot/grub/menu.lst

Have a lot more fun ;-)

Suse going the ``Pay per view'' route? :-)

Have you tried mounting it the old-fashioned way? As root, issue:

mount -t iso9660 -o ro /dev/hdc /media/cdrom

If that fails, suspect the hardware.

Good luck,
Rick
