suse 7.3 modem serial


hi i have just got a mentor,external serial hard wear modem

I am using Suse 7.3

in kppp I have put my internet details in including my DNS stuff.
when it goes to connect it initializes my modem and just stays there
for ever

now in vwdial ,it will not reconise my modem at all,

what should i do now


be great for your help

What messages do you get when you start wvdial? Also could you post your /etc/wvdial.conf with the username and password xxxxx out?

error messag

it comes up with error messages like this

Hi I have just bought an external hardware modem. It’s a mentor V90. I am using suse 7.3 kernel 2.4.10-4GB. In WV dial an error comes up

>wv dial; internet dialler version 1.42>.intlising modem
>sending: ATZ
>sending:ATQO
>re-sending:ATZ
>modem not responding

In kppp, internet dialler an error message comes up


Error

/etc/resolv.conf is missing cant be read

Ask your system administortor to create this file (can be empty)
with appropriate read and wrigth permissions.
