New to Linux and first post.
Installed SUSE 10.1 on a second hand Pentium III machine.
When I try to use the floppy disk drive I get the following Error Box:
Mount Error
Method "Mount" with signature "ssas" on interface "org.freedesktop.Hal.Device.Volume" doesnt exist
The floppy disk was formatted on a PC but unsure whether it was NTFS or FAT
Found: /dev/fd0 /media/floppy auto noauto,user,sync 0 0
changed this to /dev/fd0 /media/floppy auto rw,noauto,user,sync 0 0
Re-booted just in case and......No difference Mount Error

Hi
I'm extremely sorry...
try mounting the floppy drive on another mount point
first try unmount /dev/fd0 (I doubt if it will since the the error states the device does not exist)
U could also remove the physical device and plug it back (May be there is something wrong with the device)
Eg: mount /dev/fd0 /user/floppy
I'm quite new to this stuff as well.. So pls post your findings
Cheers
have looked into /etc/fstab (love the concept).
Found:
/dev/fd0 /media/floppy auto noauto,user,sync 0 0
changed this to
/dev/fd0 /media/floppy auto rw,noauto,user,sync 0 0
Re-booted just in case and......No difference

I don't have and /dev/fd0 /media/floppy auto,user,sync 0 0
in my /etc/fstab
or any thing that refers to my floppy.
my exact fstab reads:
===================================================================================
/dev/hdb3 / xfs defaults 1 1
/dev/hdb1 /boot xfs defaults 1 2
/dev/hdb2 swap swap defaults 0 0
proc /proc proc defaults 0 0
sysfs /sys sysfs noauto 0 0
debugfs /sys/kernel/debug debugfs noauto 0 0
usbfs /proc/bus/usb usbfs noauto 0 0
devpts /dev/pts devpts mode=0620,gid=5 0 0
