Supermicro AOC-LPZCR3: Is this card real hardware raid and linux supported?

The card I am talking about is:

Supermicro AOC-LPZCR3

Is its raid real or fake?
On the site it sais it supports only suse and redhat. Will be detected by ubuntu? On their drivers list on the site I see their names started with aacraid*. I think this is supported.

Does anyone knows if this card will work on Ubuntu, debian or slackware?

After lots of failures already with the onboard fakeraid and 2 other cards, I must find something that works.

Thank you.

Looks like a real RAID device. Unfortunately, it looks like it only has drivers for SUSE, Red Hat, and Turbo Linux.

Any suggestions?

Would you suggest any other real hardware card?

I want to have at least 5 disks. Any brand, or any card with specific chipsets?

Thank you

I think 3Ware is one of the good ones. Do a search here on LQ for posts on RAID by the userid Electro. I think he recommends several. Maybe he'll notice this thread and add his comments.
