Supermicro AOC-LPZCR2 Raid card?

I'v posted another thread some days ago about the AOC-LPZCR3. Because of its cost, I'm looking at Supermicro AOC-LPZCR2.

It is going to be put on a supermicro motherboard (X7DA3) (same brand) that has somehow native support for this card.

Here is the link of the motherboard I have:
http://www.supermicro.com/products/m...000X/X7DA3.cfm

And here is the link of this card: http://www.supermicro.com/products/a...AOC-LPZCR2.cfm

1) I think it is hardware raid, if not let me know.

2) Will it work on linux distributions other than redhat or Suse? if it works under slackware, ubuntu or debian it will be fine for me.

Thank you
