Display problems with XFree
hello everybody,
I have a sligth problem configuring my XFree86 for an ATI Mach 64 graphic adapter (PCI). There are always strange lines mooving on the screen while using KDE. It lookes like this: ___________________________ | ________________________ | | |........--__......-_--_-..........--_...| | | |........--_-.......---_-..........--_.....| | | |......---_-......... _---_........ _.....| | | |.......-_--_-........_---_...............| | | |.....-_-_-.........-_-_- ................| | | |....... _-__........._- ..................| | | |........_---_........ _------..........| | | |.......... _-........-_-....................| | | |_____------ _____------ _____| | |__ ________________________| . = blank space ......\........- - -......=....O........./ .........-------------------------------- ................| |....................:Pengy: :Pengy: I don't think that it has anything to do with my monitor, because the cursor looks allright if I move it over the stripes. I'd be glad for an answer... cu |
does that happen in another Desktop Environment/Window Manager (such as Gnome or XFCE) as well?
it also helps if you can tell us your XFree version. Do you have the latest version? I can also suggest to have a look at http://gatos.sourceforge.net . They have specialized on ATI drivers (generally they're considered better than the "originals" by XFree itself). They're mostly for AIWs but maybe there's also one for the Mach64. |
Thanks for your relpy,
I have now been able to fix the problem myself. It was some XF86 setup error. So Ijust booted in KNOPPIX an d copied the config to my deian system. And BANG.... It worked flawlessly!!! Why doesn't one ever solve problems with sutch easy solutions? Bye,bye |
