Strange printer problem.

I can't seem to get my printer to work. I think it's my USB cable but I'm not sure. Has anyone had problems with a faulty cable before? My cable is a generic USB 2.0 cable (although my MoBo only supports 1.0). When I type lsusb I get nothing! This points me in the direction of a hardware problem. It could be the fact that my mobo only supports USB 1 but my usb cable is 2.0, however it should be backwards compatible. Any thoughts?

Any thoughts?
Why not pick up a low costplug in USB card to solve your problems?
Sorry I can not help more..

Ok, so you're suggesting I upgrade to USB 2.0. The thought had crossed my mind.
