Ummm... difficault to say...
Some I compile and install from a source tarball, some come in an RPM, some in a binary tarball, etc....
It's best to search for the linux driver if the manufacturer doesn't write their own, google for it under google.com/linux and see what turns up (e.g. <model name>+linux+driver ). If and when you find the driver, follow the installation instructions that come with it...
It may be supported by a generic driver - many NICs are, what have you tried to getting it working so far?
Many drivers are/can be compiled into the kernel allthough this is a somewhat advanced thing to do, but for most they are easily loaded as kernel modules at runtime. I guess if there is a "standard" way then this is it.
