Speedstream 5360

Trying Speedstream 5360 ADSL modem with Mandriva 2005LE/ LAN connection.

SBC tech says it is a supported modem. Also shows up in linux HCL. I have power, DSL signal, Ethernet up, but this unit will not resolve any hosts.

If I use my 2Wire SBC supplied modem - everything is fine. Must be missing something simple.

SBC tech said I have to use a DATA phone cord for the Speedstream. I have seen them, buit never used one. Why won't a regular phone cord work? it something in configuration/
