specific USB Flash Disk not being mounted on Red hat 9 on kernel 2.4.20
I am trying to mount my USB 128 MB flash disk on Redhat 9 on kernel 2.4.20 running on a Intel 865GBF Motherboard. it always fails to detect it.
Another similar USb Flash can easily be mounted on my system. But on checking if my USbh had any fault. I mounted it successfully on another system working also on Redhat 9 with kernel 2.4.20. So why doesnt my USB mount on my System. Everytime when I insert the drive. Redhat temporarily jams, and stops responding but then is back to normal. |
What is the "specific flash disk"? I have heard of several, including the Sandisk Cruizer, that have difficulties in Linux. Just for the record my Sandisk Cruizer works well in SuSe 9, go figure.

My SanDisk Mini Cruzer works fine on both my laptop and desktop with SuSE 9.0, but RedHat 9, RedHat Professional 3, and Fedora Core 1 refuse to recognise it.
My 6 in 1 card reader woks fine in all the above redhat/fedora versions. I agree the thumbdrives can be very finicky. Particularly the MiniCruzer, a google search reveals allot of folks having problems with it in linux. I guess I'm just lucky it works well in SuSE. |
I dont't know the brand, it doesnt mention on the Flash disk.
But my USB is recognized by another Redhat 9 system, but not mine. Someone told me that my port may be faulty, but windowsXp picks it up immediately. |
