Speakers do not mute when headphones are plugged in
 

Hi all,

I'm running Debian 6 on a Lenovo G460. It's awesome except for one thing: The speakers do not mute when headphones are plugged in, they just keep on playing sound. I had alsa at first, but I installed pulseaudio in hopes that it had some options to fix this. It did not, so I'm not sure how to proceed. Advice would be appreciated, thanks!

Is there any operating system from which you have been able to get the speakers to mute on your machine, when you plug in the headphones?

If not, then you may have a plug that is not compatible with the jack, or there may be a problem with the jack, or wiring of the jack.

Pleas give us more details about the history of the problem.

Do the headphones work in Windows?
