Sounddevice detected under Xubuntu 7.04, but not Fluxbuntu 7.10

I have got this very problem. I have recently changed to Fluxbuntu, using the same kernel I also used before. Under Xubuntu, the sound worked great without any need of modification, which should mean that:
(a) Xubuntu could detect the hardware (it's an onboard HD chip from a VIA Epia EX-15000G)
(b) The sound driver is included in the kernel.

My question now is how to make Fluxbuntu recognize the soundcard. I already looked at cat /proc/cards or something like that where the detected cards are listed, but the result was "---no soundcards---".
I am not able to start alsaconf, as it's not included in the alsa-utils package for ubuntu versions. My idea was to somehow transfer the settings with this computer from a working Xubuntu to my fluxbuntu (No idea if this could be working technically as I'm a bloody newbie)
Does anyone know how I could do this?

there probably is a module that hasnt loaded by default on fluxbox
via i'm pretty sure is intel compatible

sudo modprobe snd
sudo modprobe snd_hda_intel
sudo modprobe soundcore
sudo /etc/init.d/alsa restart

if these don't work the use lsmod to show the modules that are loaded on your wworking ubuntu and compare for whats missing/hasnt been loaded.
or look at the contents of the old /etc/modules file compared to your new

my working sound displays this

$ lsmod|grep snd
snd_hda_intel 337192 6
snd_pcm_oss 50048 0
snd_mixer_oss 20096 1 snd_pcm_oss
snd 69288 19 snd_hda_intel,snd_pcm_oss,snd_mixer_oss,snd_pcm,snd_seq_oss,snd_rawmidi,snd_seq,snd_timer,snd_seq_de vice
soundcore 10272 1 snd
