soundcard xen-kernel

I installed CentOS 5.2 x86_64 with with a xen kernel (2.6.18-92.1.10.el5xen),
however, the sound doesn't work. (If I boot into a kernel without xen - everything works out of the box.)
When I click on the volume control, it says:
Quote:
No volume control GStreamer plugins and/or devices found
Code:
07:08.0 Multimedia audio controller: VIA Technologies Inc. ICE1712 [Envy24] PCI Multi-Channel I/O Controller (rev 02)
Code:
[xtd8865@centbox ~]$ /sbin/lsmod | grep snd_ice
snd_ice1712 100581 0
snd_ice17xx_ak4xxx 37441 1 snd_ice1712
snd_ak4xxx_adda 41537 2 snd_ice1712,snd_ice17xx_ak4xxx
snd_cs8427 42561 1 snd_ice1712
snd_ac97_codec 143385 1 snd_ice1712
snd_pcm 116809 4 snd_usb_usx2y,snd_ice1712,snd_ac97_codec,snd_pcm_oss
snd_i2c 39233 2 snd_ice1712,snd_cs8427
snd_mpu401_uart 41921 1 snd_ice1712
snd 96105 18 snd_usb_usx2y,snd_ice1712,snd_ak4xxx_adda,snd_cs8427,snd_ac97_codec,snd_seq_oss,snd_seq,snd_pcm_oss,snd_mixer_oss,snd_pcm,snd_i2c,snd_mpu401_uart,snd_timer,snd_rawmidi,snd_seq_device,snd_hwdep
Code:
[xtd8865@centbox ~]$ cat /proc/asound/cards
--- no soundcards ---
So I downloaded the latest alsa, installed kernel-xen-devel. The alsa-driver compiled successfully, however:

Code:
[root@centbox alsa-driver-1.0.17]# chmod a+rw /dev/dsp /dev/mixer /dev/sequencer /dev/midi
chmod: cannot access `/dev/dsp': No such file or directory
chmod: cannot access `/dev/mixer': No such file or directory
chmod: cannot access `/dev/midi': No such file or directory

I'm using a pci audiophile 2496 and successfully used the alsa installation tutorial for this card a number of times. I've never had this problem.
any hints

thanks

Then I added the centosplus repository, which upgraded all the kernels and tried everything again on a new xen kernel, but still the same:

Code:
./configure --with-cards=ice1712 --with-sequencer=yes --with-kernel=/usr/src/kernels/2.6.18-92.1.10.el5.centos.plusxen-x86_64
make and make install did not show any errors, but it doesn't show any cards in /proc/asound/cards and didn't create /dev/dsp
