soundcard troubles
Hello,
I have buyed a new pc with audio integrated on the motherboard. In Windows XP, if I set the SoundMax Panel Control mixer settings to capture from line in, or cd player, or mic in, I hear a buzz in synchro with mouse movements (if I set stereo mixing, no - but how to capture?). It is like scratching with the mouse. I did not try with linux because I have to re-install it (it is a new installation - ubuntu is new for me, used to be a slackwared) Can this behavior considered normal or I should go to my vendor and say to change my motherboard? Please do not reply me that this is not hardware to do recordings, I know, the only things I record are radio shows that my old pc handle in a good way (however, separated audio card ensoniq 1371). Ah, my motherboard is an Asus M2N. However, some people suggest me to buy a separated soundcard at a cheap price. I would like you suggest me a model (I see terratec aureon 5.1 pci, for example) that work good with ALSA. Could be an accetable (good) solution? Thanks, tano |
This is probably a bit over the top for what you need, but the price is pretty sweet. It's *not* a top end card - it's a nice card - and should blow your on-board card away:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...Tpk=Audigy%2b2 I've got a set of Audigy2 LE's plugged into my workstation, and they're also overkill. |
Do you think this could help me?
It seems nice, and at a very cheap price. I miss to tell all the features I need: - it should support playback while recording (full duplex) - my old ensoniq 1371 seems to be capable to do this in audacity - it should support separate channels for headphones and speakers (it should be dj software capable) Can this card handle a midi keyboard? Or can I handle in another way to use with sequencer software? |
ALSA site say this about:
Sound Blaster Audigy SE Sound Blaster Audigy Value CA0106 Details [PCI] Digital/Analog input does not work yet. Needs more development work. ?!?!? |
