Soundcard locked after crash?

In the past, when a program using my sound card has crashed, I've had times when I was unable to use sound again until I rebooted. This time, when I rebooted, sound continued to not work.

Looking at the output of lsmod, it looks like the modules for it aren't even loading any more.

I did _not_ touch any settings... I was just using Gaim, Gaim sort of fork bombed and crashed, then I rebooted to get sound back and it stayed gone.

Output of lsmod:
Code:

You may find more information in syslog or the output from dmesg

I think I was using snd-via82xx before, but just in case I wasn't, I also tried to use via82cxxx_audio. Output of modprobe via82cxxx_audio:
Code:
/lib/modules/2.4.26/kernel/drivers/sound/via82cxxx_audio.o.gz: init_module: No such device
/lib/modules/2.4.26/kernel/drivers/sound/via82cxxx_audio.o.gz: Hint: insmod errors can be caused by incorrect module parameters, including invalid IO or IRQ parameters.
You may find more information in syslog or the output from dmesg
/lib/modules/2.4.26/kernel/drivers/sound/via82cxxx_audio.o.gz: insmod /lib/modules/2.4.26/kernel/drivers/sound/via82cxxx_audio.o.gz failed
/lib/modules/2.4.26/kernel/drivers/sound/via82cxxx_audio.o.gz: insmod via82cxxx_audio failed
How can I get it working again?
