soundcard "crystal 4237B" setup for console

can anyone help me setup my soundcard under the console and eventually under X?
I am using Slackware 8.1. I believe that I must use a module, named cs4232.o, but I can't find such on my hard drive. Besides my /etc/modules.conf is empty.
What would be the best way of setting up the sound card from scratch? Any help is appreciated.

try vim /etc/rc.d/rc.modules It's the 9th one down under sound support.
Just remove the # and then reboot.
Also, change permissions so you have sound as a regular user too. chmod 666 /dev/dsp and chmod 666 /dev/mi*

Well, thanks for the reply, it seems evritink is working under the console, but under X there was a strange problem with the sound starting - I mean, when I start KDE, there is no sound at all and after I try some more to play somethink - it works.... until the next X starting. Any clues?
