The Dell CT0200 -- The new Live 5.1 card from Dell (CT0200) is not supported yet, and there is no schedule for adding support. Linux users should consider another card (any other Live card, any Audigy card, or any Audigy 2 should work -- see the card support quick link below for more information).
my comp is a dell 4550. how would i know if i have the ct0200. i'll check my win xp partition and see if it has a reference to ct0200
one of the responders to the guy's problem had this to say:
I have the exact same setup. Your listing of the pci ids is the same as mine. This seems to make a change from the oridnary Soundblaster Live! pci ids in the kernel pci driveres source. They list the Live as having an ID of 1102:0002 not 1102:0006. I am wondering if Dell has a new card revision or perhaps a special new pci id for OEM cards. The driver, I believe it to be the emu10k1 driver, doesn't try to detect hardware it only runs a comparison with the pci ids database. I don't think it'll be a difficult patch to make. I imagine it will show up in a kernel revision or two but like you, I'd sure like to have it now.
anybody know if this is done yet? can anyone here do it?
guess i'm sol on this one. getting in touch with someone at dell is like pulling teeth. man, it makes me mad that dell would do this. i really wanted to use Slab, for digital recording. what is involved in fixing the problem, is it really hard?
yeah, i've built pc's for 5 years. i was going to build one, but the dell pricing lower than a system i could build. the machine runs well. i guess i know now why it's cheaper.
Heh, this is kind of funny.....I also have a Soundblaster Live! 5.1, and Mandrake is the only dist where it works!! I've testet Mandrake 9.0, Debian 2.2, Slackware 8.1, Redhat 7.3, Redhat 8.0, and it is only in Mandrake it has worked. But it is only in Redhat I've got the network to work......VERY irritating!!
