Sound worked, now it doesnt

I just upgraded my old Aptiva using swaret to the latest version. Now when I try to play music, it says: "Failed to open sound device".

When I start KDE, I get a message that reads:
Quote:
Informational - artsmessage

Sound server informational message:

Error while initializing the sound driver:

device /dev/dsp can't be opened (No such device)

The sound server will continue, using the null output device.
I ran alsaconf, and it tells me, "No supported PnP or PCI cards found. Would you like to probe legacy ISA sound cards/chips?" I select yes, but it doesnt discover any of them either.

I know I have a working sound card, it worked fine until I upgraded. Any ideas on what the problem might be?

Thanks in advance
