Disable onboard sound card

I had the same problem. Try to disable youre onboard sound card in BIOS. There should be an option to do so.

This will load only your soundblaster while booting.

Good luck,

DR

I also have 2 soundcards, an sb-live and a via onboard, I recommend installing alsa then first initilising the card you want, then initilising the second card (module load order in startup scripts) then also load the oss emulation modules then the primary card will be /dev/dsp0 and the second will be next in line, then in programs like mplayer that support alsa natively type: mplayer -ao alsa9:hw:0 (or 1) to specify alsa and the card. also, to set volumes (mute by default) type alsamixer, set everything, hit excape to exit, then type alsactrl store, then in startup files (rc.local) type alsactrl restore thats that, oh and chmod the /dev/dsp /dev/snd and /dev/mixer stuff
