Angry Sound Problems in Fedora Core 2

All,

I recently cleanly installed Fedora Core 2 on a 555MHz PIII Compaq Deskpro EN.
Sound card -- ES18xx -- worked under an earlier install of RH9. I absolutely can not get it woking under FC2.

# module options should go here

alias char-major-14 soundcore
alias sound-slot-0 snd-card-0

alias sound-service-0-1 snd-seq-oss
alias sound-service-0-3 snd-pcm-oss
alias sound-service-0-8 snd-seq-oss
alias sound-service-0-12 snd-pcm-oss

When I check the system log after a boot, I notice the following line:
Jul 10 12:09:22 tesla modprobe: FATAL: Error running install command for sound_slot_1

Any help would be much appreciated.

hi Error201, welcome to lq. the card doesn't show up on the pci bus, is it an isa card? if not is the card working? you could try a pnpdump to check for isa cards. you can find more info on pnpdump here

http://www.roestock.demon.co.uk/isap...pnpdump.8.html

good luck.
