Sound Problems ... HELP ME PLEASE!!!

I have determined that my on board sound is currently set to default although when it plays i have to turn up my speakers very loud to hear it. I want to disable my on board sound and set my Sound Blaster Live! 24-bit to default. HELP?!?!?
