sound problems

Hi,
I opened Audio Mixer (alsa mixer) in my Fedora 19 (never did that before) and after clicking on "Front" panel suddenly music stopped playing. I suspected this must be something with the kernel, so I dmesg and I get this:

Code:

Next thing I do: reboot
Nope, problem persists.
Next, I upgrade to latest kernel (had 3.11, now 3.12.5)
Nope, problem persists.
I shutdown, disconnect all power cables from the motherboard, power on, but still no sound.
Updated to latest alsa-lib, no luck.
Current dmesg shows this error:

How do I fix this error ??
failed to create encoder 0/1/0: -19

I had no problems with the sound, but a click on a Audio Mixer window broke something really bad. I don't know, maybe some hardware damage occurred ?

Any ideas ?

Thanks in advance

If you can't hear anything, the output channels may be muted. Unmute the channels with your Desktop Environment's mixer or with alsamixer by selecting the appropriate channels and hitting the m key to mute or unmute:
lost 2 hours of my time, damn.

sorry, for bothering

seeing as "alsamixer" is a terminal ascii text based GUI ( in the terminal)

that
Quote:
and after clicking on "Front" panel
likely unchecked a check box
or moved the "volume level" to 0

reopen the terminal gui and look
Code:
alsamixer
then hit the "Esc" button to return to the terminal

Hi

it is likely you meant alsamixergui
http://www.rpmseek.com/rpm-pl/alsami...om&cx=2007:A:0

and its claimed to be wonky in fedora
http://forums.fedoraforum.org/showthread.php?t=261446

so as John VV says

run alsamixer
press m to mute or unmute outputs
press space bar to activate or de-activate inputs

upload a screen shot of your alsamixer image running in a terminal if you are not sure
and give us a link
