Unhappy Sound problems........

My sound used to work fine. Now when I play games or mp3's with Xmms, bass craps out, and sound staticy. Sound works great though when I play movie with Xine. I have recenetly installed a few programs, gstreamer, transcode, dvd::rip, and a few lib files for these programs as well. Not sure if this did it. I may have installed some additional plugins for xmms.....like all of them. Cant remember. All xmms pugins were installed from mandrake cd's. I also tried messin' with my sound control settings, to no avail.

Mandrake 9.2
Soundblaster Live (mandrake 9.2 drivers)
P4 2.4, intel chipset.
gnome 2.4

PS...im no expert, but seems to be probem with general sound, cause some programs like Xine work fine.

Thanks!!
