Try experimenting with the different model deffinitions for that audio codec. To do this, you'll need to edit (as root) /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-options (it may not exist - create it). In this file, you will want to add the following:

options snd-hda-intel model=hp
Try with that setting. Other models you can try are "thinkpad", "basic", and "toshiba". If one of these works, let me know and I can add your specific system to the driver for future alsa releases.

If it doesn't work, then we'll need to make some driver changes. This will require you to upgrade to a newer driver set (1.0.15). I have a build package you can download here. Just untar it with tar -jxvf, cd into the my-build directory, and run make. You will need to install the kernel-source package and rpmbuild package. Use urpmi so that it will install all the dependencies.
