Don't know about the error message, but you won't be able to play mp3s because Redhat don't bundle an mp3 decoder (or at least they didn't with version 8). Go and get a plugin for xmms if that's what you're using (if not then get one for whichever media player you are using, or go and get xmms)

Did you download the source for xmms-1.2.10 or an rpm? If you downloaded the source, best remove 1.2.7 with the appropriate rpm command (can't remember it, but do "man rpm" to find out. I think it's rpm -e, but don't tkae my work for it).
What were the error messages?

Question .

No i downloaded the rpm.
The errors are:
warning: user havardk does not exist - using root
warning: group havardk does not exist - using root
warning: user havardk does not exist - using root
warning: group havardk does not exist - using root

What is this? Because my xmms is still 1.2.7 after this.

Not sure what that's all about. Possibly a badly packaged rpm, made by someone who has a user named havardk which you don't have.
Best bet is to either install xmms-1.2.10 from source or carry on using xmms-1.2.7 and just download an mp3 plugin.

Try google with the keywords "xmms mp3 plugin". Also rpmfind.net should be able to find you something.
As for installing from source, download the source and read the README and INSTALL files.
