Sound only in soundcard detection (FC8)

Hi everyone (first post!)

I have just installed Fedora Core 8, but I can't hear any sounds. When I run the soundcard detection (currently using GNOME) it finds 2 cards:
- a Creative SoundBlaster Live! Value card (as seen in the lspci output below) (which works!)
- an Intel audio controller (doesn't work)

Why can't I hear any sound except in the soundcard detection, and how can I fix it? My soundcard does work in Windows XP, Ubuntu and OpenSUSE 10.2.

uname -r output:
2.6.23.1-42.fc8

/sbin/lspci output:

Have you tried adjusting (and unmuting) channels in alsamixer?
