Well, normally I'd say do a search since it's covered several times; at least how to post the relevant info, however since you left the dark side I'll just take this one straight up

Post up the output of:
lspci

If it makes it easier you can first pipe it to a text file, then post from the text file:
lspci -v > lspci.output

Now you should have a text file in your current directory called lspci.output, go ahead and open it:
less lspci.output
And post up the multimedia controller

Cool

I had the same problems, that board uses realtek ALC650 or something like that, visit the same page of realtek they have the alsa drivers there, README file and all, it worked for me it can work for u.

there is something that u have to understand is that, ALC650 is the realtek codec but it still works under the via codec keep that in mind...

PD: careful with the modules.conf file, there's the trick!!!!!!!

Or can anyone tell me what i have to put in the modules.conf file.

Thx ad advance

Ok I managed to get the alsadriver running with no errors at boot
Now my question is, is it possible to enable the 5.1 sound of that soundchip. My manual of the mobo says that with the alc 650 chip you can get 5.1 sound.
And if it's possible how do i do that?

thx for the reply so far
