Sound not working on Ubuntu version 5.4

I have looked everywhere and tried a lot of different things to get the sound working, I typed lspci and got nothing about the sound card in there and from what I read that means its not installed at all I know ya'll like to see what came up for yourself but its on a different computer and I can't get on the internet with it, havn't figured out how to use dial connections on Ubuntu yet.

It has Crystal Integrated Audio

Heres a link to the complete configuration of the computer if it helps
http://support.gateway.com/support/s...?sn=0011631440

Anyways to make a long story short how do I fix this?

Thanks for any help and if you need any more info please let me know..

James

sound driver

your driver is from Cirrus Logic. ALSA has a driver http://www.alsa-project.org/alsa-doc...s_Logic#matrix

copy and paste your # lspci | grep audio
or lspci -vv (your audio)

what does your # lsmod
say

BTW, do you have an alsaconf(root)

As I stated before it is on a different computer so I have no way of copying and pasting what it says when typing the commands cause the computer I'm getting online with is a Win XP system and it can't read the doc files so I can't transfer over the network to paste it here.
As for the what you asked I have no idea what you mean, I'm fairly new to linux so I'm not sure what you mean.
