Sound not working for certain user on Suse

I recently installed Suse and everything worked well in terms of hardware (including the printer and scanner which wouldn't even work on windows).

The only problem is that I can't hear sound on my user account. When I set up Suse I made 2 accounts 1 was a "guest" account which was very limited to what could be done and it just auto logged in. I also made an account for me which is less limited and I could do more things in terms of administration.

The thing is... the sound doesn't work on my account the sound controller called KMix shows that there is no "Mixer" and it just has a red x in the system tray. What is even stranger is that the sound does work on the guest account and I even tested the root account and the sound works there. How can I fix this?

same problem

I have the same problem. I don't know what causes it, or how to permanently fix it, but on my machine, if I log out of the guest user in order to log in to my user rather than selecting "Switch User" in the KMenu, the sound works. In short, it works with whatever user is on screen one. If I am on screen 1 and the guest user is on screen 2, then the guest user won't play sound. I haven't figured out the whole thing with the root user, though. Good luck...
