Wow that is complicated..... I was searching the above link but was getting lost. So it has to support the chipset too.. So I take it Linux is hard to load on a laptop and get compatible drivers for laptop. I was probably better off getting a desktop with the basics. I wish it was easier to find a driver for a workstation? I have everything else working. Is there any diagnostics I can run to find if the sound card is working properly as of right now I canít get any sound through mp3ís or off CDís?

By the above links I donít think itís supported. That suck I wish they had a beta generic sound driver to get some sort of sound out of my laptop? Any other suggestions are much appreciated? How do you get your sound card looked at to have a driver created?

bigdogg; suggestion get Linux Complete by sybex (text book) cheap$20
will help understand howto better. have one sure helps even with giving help to others. also keep looking thru that site prior for laptops, a little advice don,t think w`s it will confuse u. linux works in logically way. ? r u using gui or txt? with gui at control center is where u adminster everything
that ie: u would do with w`s except u`ll have to do it all by choice. if others have done what u r attempting u can too. just take it easy, patiently and step by step so that no errors or problems arise from being rash or fast. once you get it done right you will be amazed how easy and smooth
preformance is with linux. not just my word but all other linux users!.
