Sound not working

Hi,

I've got a problem with my sound.... it dosent works! I tried everything, it works under windows but not under mandrake... My sound card is a Sound Blaster Live!. What to do?

oh and if it can help, when I try to test sound under control center, it says I have to run artswrapper or something or I'll not beable to produce acceptable sound :

Can't set real-time scheduling priority.
You need to run artswrapper as root or
setuid root. This means that you will
likely not be able to produce acceptable
sound (i.e. without clicks and breaks).

sounds like a permissions problem.

cd to /dev/sound and do an ls -al. What are the permissions?

I have had the exact problem, and I don't remember how I solved it...
