sound issues

Okay, Hi. I am in a bit of an angry spot. I have SuSE 9.2 installed with update of aRts and sound works great... In teamspeak, in CD players, the works, just not at the same time. I have looked and looked and I find no soulution to this. I have a crazy motherboard built in sound card thing. It is labled in linux 82801BA/BAM AC'97 Audio. I just want to be able to Run Teamspeak and listen to an MP3 at the same time, any suggestions are welcome.

you can have sound or you can have sound but you can't have both

only kidding

try this turn off arts
as in sound system uncheck enable sound system
and restart kde

then under system notification click configure player and set it to mplayer
make sure you set mplayer to use the alsa output plugin and the mixer and mixer channel driver default

now make a file in your home directory called .asoundrc
put this
Code:
# this might get some non alsa aware apps to use dmix
pcm.dsp {
    type plug
    slave.pcm "dmix"
}

pcm.dsp0 {
    type plug
    slave.pcm "dmix"
}
# this makes native ALSA apps default to using dmix
pcm.!default {
    type plug
    slave.pcm "dmix"

}
try to set all the apps to use alsa native output if possible
