Ok... Im a linux newbie... and im getting pretty damn dishaertned.

Running knoppmyth, with a PC Chips M925 mobo, VIA vt 8235 chipset (southbridge). Having three days and 4 re-installs worth of issues with it. Main problem, No sound

The mixers wont load (aumix or alsamixer). Am using snd-via82xx driver, which seems to be the one to use. Ive tried everything all modules and dependencies are loaded. Alsa-base looks fine. But nothing works.

Im sure hoping someone here can fix this and keep me from migrating to XP MCE :S

Just a thought - check to see whether your sound buttons are set. I had a no sound issue last week and discovered that one or more had not been turned on. When I did, things worked pretty well.
