I'm running Slackware 10, and when I startX the sound is all static, it's not a bad connection to the computer though, because it only does it once I startX. Can anyone help me fix this?
Also, on Slackware 10, I have a USB mouse with the scrolling tab in the middle, but that tab thing dont work. Help please
Welcome to LQ Kronan. While it can be frustrating to wait for a response to a post, please give the LQ community some time to respond. Your post is getting visibility in the forum, and as the LQ Rules indicate, we ask that members not bump their own posts until at least 24 hours have elapsed without getting a reply. Thanks
As for the issues you've described, have you taken advantage of the Seach function here at LQ? It's an excellent way to locate existing threads covering a given topic, and I would be willing to bet that you may find some useful posts that cover this same territory. -- J.W.
1. the scrolling wheel of my USB mouse doesn't work even though i added the options "Buttons" "5" and "ZAxisMapping" "4 5" in /etc/X11/xorg.conf. Any Ideas?
2. my sound card doesn't work either. i recompiled the kernel (2.4-26) several times with the correct sound card - no success. alsaconf isn't able to detect the sound card. legacy drivers don't work either.
any ideas?
3. my laptop supports legacy usb. but when i turn this option on (in BIOS) slack 10 hangs during login (it's not possible to make any input by the keyboard).
Kronan: are you running KDE? it has a habit of running arts on the first login and keeping at it. if not have you looked in alsamixer? (defaults to silence. muted audio until you type "alsactl store" to keep your setttings)
Mr. D:
1) Have your tried adding
Code:
Option "Protocol" "IMPS/2"
to your xorg.conf? (if that doesn't work there are others to try)
2) does `lspci` show any trace of your sound card
3) are you using a stock kernel? it should have usb support built right in..
