sound driver for asus a7v8x


hi everybody

could someone tell me where i can found drivers for asus a7v8x motherboard
my linux is suse 8.2

thanks for any help

Hi..

Post ur lspci command.

Try ALSA Sound project.

i have tried to run alsaconf : it detects a card but the test crashes.

hi friend,

if you can, download this distro, Kurumin www.kurumin.com.br, this is a live cd, if you sound card recogzined they work with linux, i was have an Via MotherBoard for Athlon XP, and his sound card didn't worked with Linux and i put an off-board sound card. Days after i change the mObO for an with the SiS chipset and now i am waiting for an nForce mobo ( A7S8X-X Asus )

i dont use suse, but for the sound driver, you need to recompile your kernel and select "via82cxxx" under sound in your kernel config. don't forget to create the /dev/dsp and /dev/mixer if they don't exist already.

to test if it works, just do 'ls somebigdir > /dev/dsp'. if you hear some noise, it works...
