Sound drastically going up

I have an annoying sound issue. I have had this problem since I bought a new machine and started using Wheezy. I've been running Debian Wheezy now Debian Sid and for example: I'm listening to the music, someone writes to me, following a message sound, the sound drastically goes up. Or the music is playing and I'm checking out a youtube video, same happens the sound goes up. So when there are 2 or more sources of sound it goes way up. Anyone got an idea how can I fix this annoying problem?

Sounds like a "global sound volume" to me.

Could you explain it to me?

Try this, if pulseaudio is your sound server:

Sounds like it works. Thank you. Btw. I recently reinstalled my os. And at start the volume is always set to 0. Debian Wheezy and Gnome 3.4 (classic). I haven't had this problem previously.

That is actually quite good. I've configured this as well on my xubuntu. So, I suggest to leave it.
