I have a PC that I use as a home theater machine and suddenly it does not output any sound... The speaker icon at the task bar shows a red X (like muted) and when I double click it, it says: "No volume control GStreamer plugins and/or devices found". How can my sound device suddenly disappear like that and how do I fix it? I am running ubuntu 7.10 and i have not changed my kernel lately. I am runnning kernel 2.6.22-14.
