I have an Avance Logic ALS 4000 sound card and it plays fine under Mandrake 9. I decided to d/l RH 8 and installed it today. No problem with the install and it recognizes the sound card but says the module is unknown. I'm new to linux and would just as well change out the sound card. I looked though the hardware list provided by Red Hat for sound card compatibility. There are several Creative Labs cards listed but some are no longer produced. I guess what I'm asking is which sound cards are the most common among Red Hat users. I'm not sure I can install modules or recompile the kernel and thought that a different card supported by red hat might be the bet way to go. Thanks in advance for your help...
I went over to the ALSA site and will have to do some reading on the procedure. I was hoping to get more responses here but I guess sound cards under linux are not a big problem. Thanks again...
