Sound card recommendation
 

I am doing quite a bit of sound editing, and I like the front ports on my Fatal1ty, but I don't like the fact that I don't have a driver. I am looking for something with line in, line out, headphones, and all that good stuff on the front bay. Of course I want good quality, and good linux support. Any recommendations? Any other cards that do not work?

Well I got the Sound Blaster Live! and I have all the plugs in the front panel. And works really cools with several Debian Distros. With the Sound Blaster Live! you have Speaker Output, Auxiliary inputs, and Line in Input and also the Microphone Input Channel. I am already using it with the Midi Sequencer Rosegarden and also I am doing very cool drums with Hydrogen that also you can exports midi files to Rosegarden or you can export the drums in Wav audio to Audacity. And works great for me having a sound of a "real drummer" and using all my soundfonts that I got in my Sound Blaster. Try it.

Soundblaster is for kids. Go with M-Audio sound cards or Audiotrak Prodigy HiFi.

Do those both have native linux drivers?

I looked recently at the Prodigy and some people have found its support flaky at best.

I still use Live sound cards for Linux boxes as they tend to work out of the box without any incessant fiddling and wasted hours compiling dodgy drivers.
