Sound Card Problem

I have a RH 8 system that has two sound cards on it. For some reason cd's play on one sound card and mp3's oggs and wav's play on the other sound card. I think I found a way to solve the problem. In the KDE control panel I can specify which device I want to use, but it doesn't give me any options to choose from. Where do I find the path to the device that I want to use? Do I specify the mod/driver or the actual device. I hope I dont sound retarded. When I set up my win modem on my linux box I linked the /dev/modem to the a module called ptserial. I'm assuming that i'm suppossed to be specifying a module path in the text box and not an actual device. Any help will be appreciated.:0)

Try /dev/dsp and /dev/dsp1 it might be wanting an actual device entry.
/dev/dsp is a one sound card Im guessing that /dev/dsp1 would be soundcard 2.
Never used two soundcards though so thats a guess
