Sound Card Problem

The sound works perfectly at time, and at time it only works for 5 to 10 minutes and stops.
It is a pci sound card and on board sound card has been disabled, as is not supported by Linux.
I am using Pulseaudio not Alsa.
Any idea what is the problem?

pulseaudi 2396 ****** 20u CHR 116,11 0t0 4119 /dev/snd/controlC1
pulseaudi 2396 ****** 26u CHR 116,9 0t0 4060 /dev/snd/controlC0
pulseaudi 2396 ****** 32u CHR 116,9 0t0 4060 /dev/snd/controlC0

by-id controlC0 pcmC0D0c pcmC0D1p pcmC0D2p seq
by-path controlC1 pcmC0D0p pcmC0D2c pcmC1D0c timer

Listing your distro/version and the hardware in question might help...

lspci or lshw should show us the hardware (post the output in 'code' tags please, to keep the forum neat).

I had a Linux guru examine the whole setup, the problem is with Skype, in Debian Squeeze!
And at this stage there is no solution !

Cascade this is the out put for sound cards, one is on board the other one is pci which is CMI 8737, do you think black list the on board one?

listing your distro/version and the hardware in question might help

サブデバイス: 1/1
サブデバイス #0: subdevice #0

Try disabling the onboard sound in the BIOS, its faster and cleaner than blacklisting.

The problem was solved by installing,ia32-sun-java6-bin, and ia-32libs, ,
It was very strange once Skype was turned on, the sound would go in few minutes .
Thanks for the input Cascade .
