I have Intel(R)82915G/GV/910GL Express Chipset. I have installed Redhat Enterprise Linux WS 4 on my system. My system is Pentium 4 2.66Ghz.
Though my video card is detected automatically in Linux, but my sound card is not detected. In windowsXP Professional I m able to play sound.
I want to play sound on my system so plz provide me help for this problem.

What soundcard do you have, what does lspci say about your sound card?

does that redhat version is supposed to auto configure the sound?
if it does, try running 'alsaconf' to detect the sound card.

sorry i cannot be more helpful, but im not familiar at all with any redhat, so i have no idea how to set the sound in redhat.

also, it is possible that the sound works but it sends the output to the null device from some reason.
