Check if device is supported by system first.
#su <pw> #lspci if you find your soun device among listed then again as root #alsaconfig |
alsaconfig ....Unable to fnd command
Unable to find alsaconfig ....it is not recognized by Linux machine .
I have a RH9 machine . The output of lspci is .... 00:00.0 Host bridge: Intel Corp. 82810E DC-133 GMCH [Graphics Memory Controller Hub] (rev 03) 00:01.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corp. 82810E DC-133 CGC [Chipset Graphics Controller] (rev 03) 00:1e.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corp. 82801AA PCI Bridge (rev 02) 00:1f.0 ISA bridge: Intel Corp. 82801AA ISA Bridge (LPC) (rev 02) 00:1f.1 IDE interface: Intel Corp. 82801AA IDE (rev 02) 00:1f.2 USB Controller: Intel Corp. 82801AA USB (rev 02) 01:05.0 Ethernet controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. Hmmm, There were several threads on "01:0a.0 Multimedia audio controller: C-Media Electronics Inc CM8738 (rev 10)" problems reported because of Intel build-in cards. If I'm not mistaken RH has its own
"secretly":) developped package caled soundconfig. I remember it since 2002, when I tried RH first time. Soundconfig is special package for PNP sound devices |
