Arrow sound card not visible from the kernel

You have just installed new sound card. It is not visible from the kernel. What is the problem?

1. Does the system find the soundcard at all? You should see a "Multimedia audio" controller in your lspci output. If you don't find it you should make sure it is seated properly in the PCI (or ISA) slot.

2. Did you try to load the driver module? Use the Alsa sound card matrix to find out what Alsa module to use. You will find further instructions there.

Maybe you didn't seat it properly in the PCI slot but yet it could be an ISA card though.. no details provided.

Also could be that you forgot to disable Plug and Play in the BIOS that might prevent the card to not be detected....

What kernel version and what soundcard?

Could be a bad soundcard as well.. or simply not supported by Linux.
