Hi,

I am using Redhat AS 3. Kernel 2.4.21-52.

Machine : HP Desktop.

Sound card : Multimedia audio controller: ATI Technologies Inc IXP SB400 AC'97 Audio Controller (rev 02)


Problem:

If I give the /sbin/lspci | grep -i audio I am getting

"Multimedia audio controller: ATI Technologies Inc IXP SB400 AC'97 Audio Controller (rev 02)"

But if i check in dmesg, no audio / sound device was loaded.

and also checked soundcard detection menu in kde. Says "No sound card present".

I have enable sound card option in kernel.

if I give lsmod it is showing

soundcore 1 [autoclean] none


My inbuild sound card is not working. Please help me to solve the problem.

Try a and see if the modules load. If you've built a custom kernel make sure the alsa drivers are also enabled as modules. You can find more here.
